My group and I have finally finished our preliminary exercise for our music videos. Below is the finished product...
Overall, we all found making the prelim a lot harder than we thought it would be as continuity was a big issue. I found it was very hard to stay in one place for a long time and so when we had to film shots again I was sometimes in a different position. This meant added time up in the editing suite trying to make our music video run smoothly.
Another issue was our camera ran out of charge when we had just 3 shots left to film and so we had to film on a different day. This meant that our original plan to film the flower scenes in town park had to be changed to filming in the school grounds.
My group and I also never realised just how long it would take to get the camera angles in the right position. This was mainly an issue when I had to hold my hand up to the sunlight as it took a while to get the camera in the right position for the shot.
When it came to editing I don't think any of my group realised how long it takes to edit a music video. Lip syncing was a major issue as it was very hard to get the lip singing in time to the music. My group and I are definitely going to have to practice this before we make our real music video.
I think that doing this task has been very beneficial for my group as we have had some practice as to how to make a music video. This means hopefully making our real music video will be a lot more easier and smoother than if we hadn't done the prelim task. This task has also made me appreciate music videos more as I have seen just how much work goes into making a short video.
